Iñigo Ibrae, Executive Director
Since launching Devotion Fitness in 2021, Iñigo has single handedly worked with over 500 LGBTQ+, BIPOC, & Women by proving free outdoor boxing sessions. Iñigo has been recognized for his work with Devotion Fitness by the mayor of Long Beach, has been featured in various news journals, and has received grant support from The Long Beach Department of Health, Measure US, and sponsorships from The Port of Long Beach.
Personal Background
Iñigo has a background in fine arts, has been an entrepreneur since 2016, and has been in the fitness industry since 2018. Since 2021, Ibrae has been part of the non-profit sector and has multiple certificate trainings as well as hands on experience creating programing, development, and executive direction for Devotion Fitness.
My Approach
My approach is simple - providing community care, compassion, and helping members remember their abundance.
After working with multiple professional boxers and amateur fighters at various Long Beach and So-Cal boxing gyms, I realized traditional boxing gyms will never be safe for LGBTQ+ folks due to toxic masculinity and discrimination.
I launched Devotion Fitness to create a safe space for all body-types and gender identities. Boxing is an empowering sport with little research demonstrating the positive outcomes after training for years.
Personally, boxing changed my life and I wanted my community to have access to that joy while becoming fully embodied, and creating community change at the same time.
Bridging the Body and Invisible World
I see the body as the highest form of art. After experiencing my spiritual awakening, I realized the only way to transcend our limiting behaviors and patterns is by first becoming embodied. Having a safe community space to exercise, release stress, and a nurturing environment helps our members show up in the world with PURPOSE. My aim is to help remind everyone to heal their emotional, mental, and physical bodies in order to create positive change in the world.
